Highgate Cemetery

Had a tour of the infamous Highgate Cemetery but had a crap guide. Karl Marx and Michael Faraday are two of the many famous people buried there. The nicest cemetery I have ever been to.

Visiting Elsa

Well we finally had the priveledge of meeting Elsa. Anje and I drove the junker all the way to London and back to see her. We went to Hamstead Heath Park (but never saw the bear) and into town to get her passport. Elsa wasn't a fan of the tube though. She is very cute but has a crazy set of lungs. You can visit her blog here.

Our Chalet

We stayed at Samantha's godmothers Chalet in Thallon, just outside of Evian on Lake Geneva. I swear I gained 10 lbs from all the bread, butter and bon mammon in the morning and king brau in the evening. The view of the lake is from our bedroom balcony.

Chamonix-Mont Blanc

Mont Blanc was incredible! Mont Blanc is 4800 ft up in the Swiss Alps with Switzerland on one side and Italy on the other. I recommend taking most of the day to spend walking around the halfway point on the Chamonix side. It was strange being in a snow storm when an hour earlier I was walking around in a t-shirt. L'Aiguille du Midi made me feel like I was 007 at some sort of Russian Nuclear base.

Gruyeres Cheese mmmmm

Gruyeres is a 13th century medieval town situated on a hill north of Gstaad near Brulle in the midst of Fibourg. Gruyeres cheese is from there and also Caillers chocolate.
There are live webcams of the town here.

Diablerets and Gstaad

We took off to Les Diablerets and Gstaad. Anje wanted a Heidi picture of herself so I finally found a spot to bring it to life. I wish I had more pics of
the drive to Gstaad (sepia toned pic) in german speaking Switzerland.

Chateau de Chillon

Anje and I spent a week in France and Switzerland with our friends Matt and Samantha. After getting through a couple rental cars we made it to Chateau de Chillon in Montreux on Lake Geneva. Bonivard was chained to the pillars of the prison between 1530 and 1536 and was immortalised by the poet Lord Byron who wrote the poem 'The Prisoner of Chillon' in 1816.(there is a pic of the prison)
